Pankaj Wadhwa
Pankaj is an MBA in Finance from Boston University. He founded Kidstuff in 1988, which went on to become one of the largest toy manufacturing companies in India, exporting toys and games to the United States and Europe. In 1995 he set up Kidstuff Promos and Events, specializing in Promotional Marketing.
Today, Kidstuff is part of the Mudra group and India’s largest promotional marketing agency. It has an impressive cross category client list, ranging from Pepsi, Unilever and ITC Foods to Disney Channel, Motorola and Intel. In 2005, Pankaj was recognized as the ‘International Marketer of the Year’ by MAAW – the umbrella organization for marketing services agencies internationally. In 2006, he was selected to be a prestigious Jury Member of the inaugural Sales Promo Lions at the Cannes International Advertising Festival.
Pankaj has founded Himjoli, a social enterprise in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand.
Himjoli, which means Friend in the Land of Snow, has been working with producer groups based in the state of Uttarakhand since the past 12 years. Himjoli’s mission is to reduce migration to cities by creating sustainable jobs in the villages.
Thousands of rural farmers, artisans and women’s groups are involved in this enterprise that aims to transform lives through trade, not aid.
In 2017 Pankaj founded Udhyam. The goal of Udhyam is to create entrepreneurs (who in turn create jobs and opportunities) through mentoring and facilitating funds. There are 150 entrepreneurs on the ground today and the goal is to create 500 entrepreneurs and 2,500 additional jobs in five years.
