What is a CV?

The Latin Curriculum Vitae (CV) literally means ‘course of life’ and is a detailed, in-depth, cumulative account of your education, work, projects, and achievements in chronological order. It is normally between 3-15 pages but has no outer limit as such.

It is often used in:

1. Academia; 2. Clinical medical professions; 3. Senior positions.

Nowadays, there is a tendency to use the term ‘CV’ and ‘Resume’ (described below) interchangeably, although employers and others prefer resumes almost universally. If a detailed CV is required, it will be asked for specifically.

Resumes are also sent with applications for:

1. Internships; 2. Scholarships; 3. MBAs; 4. PhDs; 5. Foreign graduate & Post-graduate studies
